Weekends Away Titbits
Oh what to do, what to dooooo?
The picture above embraces so much of what we are going through right now from a micro and a macro point of view. Weekends Away as a growing company, South Africa as a growing country and the world as an expanding global economy!
On the company side, we are in the most wonderful mentoring program, which has shifted our service levels, systems and offerings in a way that I believe will drive us on to becoming one of the key market players in our arena in 2008. This will also mean a name change and then of course a celebratory function for our clients and suppliers to announce it - I look forward to keeping you updated on that front -
On the growing country level - I spent quite some time on Sunday catching up on the Mail & Guardian, The Sunday Independent and a few other papers from last week that I never got to! The politics and behaviour of some of our leaders is beyond humerous and getting to the point where we should become gravely concerned about the ability of our leaders to lead or to put the right people in place for the job. (See our Training section for info on Leadership training)
Finally onto our planet - Carte Blanche aired a wonderful insert on Global Warming and to add to that subject, I have found a website for you to check out your carbon emissions on your next flight. (See our section Activist issues)
That still leaves us with the question - what to do???
Get active in your own small way, make a difference wherever you can and lead by example!
Have a wonderful week -
With love
The Weekends-Away team.
Corporate
Why use us for your next conference??
Weekends Away has had years of experience placing the right clients (mostly Blue Chip, listed companies) into the right venues.
It is not just about choosing a hotel from a brochure or website, or from a word of mouth recommendation from a colleague, but rather about knowing which venue would be the right venue for your team.
That is where we come in - during our briefing with you, we will establish the culture of your team, the budget and the reason for your getaway -
Armed with that knowledge, our team of coordinators and consultants will do a needs analysis and ensure that we get back to you with at least three options of the right venue. This would mean, no matter what your choice, the venue would be right for you!
WE have visited each of the venues available to the Gauteng market many times and have an excellent relationship with the owners and managers - that is what makes us the specialists when making the recommendation to you -
Email me to assist with your next conference to make sure that it is the perfect event! jenny@weekends-away.com

Book of the Month - The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
Fragments of a Great Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions and philosophies throughout the centuries. For the first time, all the pieces of The Secret come together in an incredible revelation that will be life-transforming for all who experience it.
In this book, you’ll learn how to use The Secret in every aspect of your life — money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.
The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers — men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness. What is the Carbon Cost of your flight?
Perhaps you’re thinking of flying off to a warmer climate, basking in the sun, listening to the waves from your bedroom?
Or maybe you’re looking for something more unusual? - Visit deserts which were once the cradles of ancient civilisations, see rivers of ice crack and flow down mountain slopes, or paddle through flooded forests…
Maybe you’re visiting old friends or bringing some warmth to your grandchildren far away,
Or are you jetting off to an business meeting or an international conference, to play your part in shaping the future of our planet?
Yes, that’s right, whatever your reason, all you have to do to make the world warmer is get in a plane!
CO2, NOx, and H2O emissions from aircraft contribute substantially to the greenhouse effect. So, as this melts the icecaps, the sea-level will rise, drowning those coral islands, flooding those forests, perhaps bringing the waves right into your bedroom. Meanwhile advancing deserts and freak storms may destroy our farms and cities. Will our grandchildren thank us for the exciting warm world they inherit?
To find out how much carbon you are producing with your next flight - check out http://www.chooseclimate.org/flying/mf.html
Thought for the week
Choices
Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live life.
Help keep our country and it’s cities tidy
A tidy city is the sign of a civilized society!
